Merger of Varða Capital ehf. and Hugbúnaður hf. (Centara and Wise)

The Competition Authority examined the acquisition of Varða Capital ehf. and Hugbúnaður hf. Varða Capital's main business is consulting and investment activities, and the company has a number of subsidiaries operating in different markets in Iceland. Hugbúnaður owns the subsidiaries Centara ehf. and Wise Solutions ehf. who operate in software development and sales.

It was the opinion of the Competition Authority that the merger would not lead to distortion of competition since the merging parties do not operate in the same markets and the vertical and conglomerate effects of the merger are limited.
