The acquisition of parts of Bernhard ehf's operations, by Askja ehf.

The Icelandic Competition Authority (ICA) has examined the merger between Askja ehf. (Askja) and Bernhard ehf. (Bernhard). The merger was notified with a shorter form notification on basis of Art. 17 a of the Icelandic Competition Act No. 44/2005. 

Askja is a car import and services company, specialising in vehicles from Mercedes-Benz and Kia. Askja is located at Krókháls, where it operates repair services and car showrooms. Bernhard is a car import and services company, specialising in vehicles from Honda. Bernhard is located at Vatnagarðar, where it operates repair services and car showrooms.

Subsequent to the further examination, the ICA found that there were not sufficient grounds for intervention of the merger on the basis of Art. 17 of the Icelandic Competition Act.
