The merger of Icepharma hf. and Yggdrasill ehf.

The Icelandic Competition Authority (ICA) has reviewed a merger between Icepharma hf. and Yggdrasill ehf. Icepharma specialises in sales, marketing and support of health-promoting products such as pharmaceuticals, medical devises, nursing products, sporting goods, vitamins and food supplements. Yggdrasill operates in import and supply in wholesale of organic products such as food products, health products (food supplements) and cosmetics.

This is a horizontal merger since both merging parties operate on the same markets affected by the merger. After its investigation it is the ICA's assessment that the merger will neither give rise to a dominant position nor strengthen of a dominant position in any market. The merger is not considered liable to cause appreciable harm to competition in other ways. Therefore, there is no reason to intervene in this merger on the basis of Article 17 c of the Icelandic Competition Act no. 44/2005.
