Merger of Måsøval Eiendom AS and Ice Fish Farm AS

The Icelandic Competition Authority approved the merger of Måsøval Eiendom AS and Ice Fish Farm AS, which are Norwegian companies operating in the field of salmon farming. Both companies have control over Icelandic undertakings engaged in salmon farming in the East Fjords.

The merger investigation revealed that the merging parties' share in salmon farming in Iceland is significant. However, the Competition Authority did not consider it necessary to intervene in the merger, e.g. due to the international nature of the sale of farmed salmon, the low probability of restriction of domestic competition and the views of Icelandic authorities responsible for aquaculture obtained during the merger investigation.
