Merger of Hraðfrystihúss Hellissands hf. and Hidda ehf.

The Icelandic Competition Authority (ICA) has reviewed a merger between Hraðfrystihús Hellissands hf. and Hidda ehf. Hraðfrystihús Hellissands hf. is engaged in fishing and processing of demersal fish sells most of its production and products to foreign markets. Hidda only engages in demersal fishing and does not process products. This is a horizontal merger. After its investigation it is the ICA's assessment that the merger will neither give rise to a dominant

position nor strengthen of a dominant position in any market. The merger is not considered liable to cause appreciable harm to competition in other ways. Therefore, there is no reason to intervene in this merger on the basis of Article 17 c of the Icelandic Competition Act no. 44/2005.
