Merger of Fagkaup ehf. and ÍJ ehf

The Icelandic Competition Authority (ICA) has examined the merger of Fagkaup ehf. and ÍJ ehf. Fagkaup's operations involve the import, distribution and sale of plumbing products. Fagkaup's operations can be divided into five operational divisions; Sindri and Sindri protective clothing, Johan Rönning, S. Guðjónsson, Áltak and Vatn og veitur. ÍJ is a company that partly took over the operation of Ísleifur Jónsson when the company ceased its operations. The company's main activities are within the sales of products for plumbing, pumps, toilets, faucets, washbasins, kitchen sinks, radiators and related products.

The ICA concluded that there were no grounds to intervene because of the merger, as there were no indications that a dominant market position would be formed or that the merger would otherwise lead to a significant distortion of competition.
