The merger of Fastus and HealthCo

The Icelandic Competition Authority (ICA) has examined the merger between Fastus ehf. (Fastus) and HealthCo ehf. (HealthCo). The merger was notified with a long form notification on basis of Art. 17 a of the Icelandic Competition Act No. 44/2005. Fastus, formed in 2006, specialises in providing equipment and machines to companies and public institutions operating in health services and foods related industries. HealthCo, formed in 2008, specialises in the selling of products and related services in the health services industry. The company has held sales licence agency in Iceland for leading medical equipment manufacturers. On February 28th, the ICA announced to the merging parties that there were grounds for further examination of the transaction. Subsequent to the further examination, the ICA found that there were not sufficient grounds for intervention of the merger on the basis of Art. 17 of the Icelandic Competition Act.
