The Icelandic Competition Authority (ICA) has reviewed a complaint of Almenna umhverfisþjónustan ehf. and Tóm steypa ehf. (both materials companies) of competition restrictions by Snæfellsbær (town) regarding access to mines near Snæfellsbær. After its investigation it is the ICA's assessment that the contracts made by the town of Snæfellsbær regarding access to gravel mines have detrimental effects on competition. Therefore, the ICA has instructed Snæfellsbær to implement a new system regarding access to mines near Snæfellsbær in order to limit the harming effects on competition.
