Merger of S&K eignarhaldsfélag ehf. and Höfðabrekku ehf.

The Icelandic Competition Authority (ICA) has reviewed the merger between S&K eignarhaldsfelag ehf. and Höfðabrekka ehf. S&K eignarhaldsfélag is the parent company of Centerhotels ehf. which operates six hotels in Reykjavík under the brand name Center hotel. Höfðabrekka operates Hotel Katla which is located in Vik in Myrdal.  

After its investigation it is the ICA's assessment that the merger will neither give rise to a dominant position nor strengthen of a dominant position in any market. The merger is not considered liable to cause appreciable harm to competition in other ways. Therefore, there is no reason to intervene in this merger on the basis of Article 17 c of the Icelandic Competition Act no. 44/2005.
