Merger of Skinney-Þinganes hf. and Auðbjörg ehf.

The Competition Authority has reviewed the merger of Skinney-Þinganess hf. and Auðbjörg ehf. Following the acquisition Skinney-Þingness will control the operation of Auðbjörg within the meaning of the Icelandic Competition Act no. 44/2005. Both undertakings are active in the fisheries market as fishers, processors of fish and sellers of fish products. The merging parties will control less than 20% of the market in all seafood types except langoustine (Icelandic lobster). For that reason the Competition Authority gather more information on the langoustine market. The investigation revealed no major competition concerns and for that reason the merger has been approved.
