The merger of Securitas hf. and Geymslur ehf.

The Icelandic Competition Authority (ICA) has reviewed a merger between Geymslur 24 ehf. and Geymslur ehf. The undertakings of the merger both rent out specialized storage units and Geymslur 24 ehf., which is owned by Securitas, is new in the market. This is a horizontal merger with minimal concentration effect in the market. After its investigation it is the ICA's assessment that the merger will neither give rise to a dominant position nor strengthening of a dominant position in this market. The market has low entrance barriers and clear indications show that new parties have entered the market recently. The merger is not considered liable to cause appreciable harm to competition in other ways. Therefore, there is no reason to intervene in this merger on the basis of Article 17 c of the Icelandic Competition Act no. 44/2005.
