The merger of two IT service providers, Sensa ehf. and Basis ehf.

The Competition Authority examined the merger of Sensa and Basis. Bothe companies provide IT services. Sensa, is own by Simin hf. a large telecommunications company, and provides varied IT services while Basis is mainly a hosting and service managing provider. After its investigation, the ICA has come to the conclusion that, despite there being some consolidation within certain submarkets of the IT sector, the merger will not have negative effects on domestic competition. Consequently there is no reason to intervene in this merger on the basis of Article 17 of the Icelandic Competition Act.
