Merger of Verkís hf. and Almenna verkfræðistofan hf. (engineering firms)

On June 28th 2012 the Icelandic Competition Authority (ICA) received a letter from Logos (law firm) informing of the merger of Almenna verkfræðistofan hf. and Verkís hf. The ICA concluded that there was not sufficient information in the merger announcement according to the Competition Act and rules on the content of merger agreements.

In a letter dated November 1st 2012 the ICA requested additional information and received a new merger announcement and merger statement on the said merger, dated November 20th 2012. Necessary additions were included in the latter announcement, according to the ICA's requirements, mainly concerning the cooperation with competitors in the market and concerning associations that the merging parties belong to. In the new announcement it was stated that the merging parties wished to take part in negotiations about possible conditions for the merger.

After investigation and negotiations the ICA has permitted the merger with conditions and an agreement has been signed between the ICA and the merging parties according to the law, as further described in the conclusion of the decision.
