  The Icelandic Competition Authority has completed an investigation into the merger of Opin Kerfi hf. (here after “Opin Kerfi”) and TRS ehf. (here after “TRS”). Opin Kerfi specializes in consulting, operational and hosting services, as well as the sale of computer and communication equipment to both domestic and foreign companies. Opin Kerfi’s registered purpose is the sale of information technology, marketing, consulting and service activities in the field of information technology, investments in related activities, real estate operations, lending activities and other related operations.

  TRS is a service company in information technology, telecommunications and electricity and was founded in 1995. TRS's registered purpose is the sale and service of computer and telecommunications equipment. The company is headquartered in Selfoss but also operates an office in Kópavogur, according to the merging parties.

  The Competition Authority has concluded that nothing in the available information or data in the case indicates that the merger would create or strengthen a dominant position, or that it would otherwise significantly distort competition. For this reason, the Competition Authority does not consider it necessary to take action regarding the merger and is therefore concluding the case in its first phase.
