  The Icelandic Competition Authority (ICA) has examined the merger between Reir ehf. and Gluggasmiðjan ehf. The merger was notified with a short form notification on basis of Article 17 a of the Icelandic Competition Act No 44/2005. The merger notification also included a request for exemption from the ban of the merger being implemented while the ICA investigated it. The exemption was granted on the 12 th. of January 2018. Gluggasmiðjan is a company specialized in the production and maintenance of windows and doors for construction workers, individuals and companies in Iceland. Reir ehf. is a investment management company that mainly engages in securities trading and taking on incidental building projects. After the merger investigation it was the conclusion of the ICA that there is no need for intervention of the merger on the basis of Article 17 of the Competition Act.
