  The Icelandic Competition Authority (ICA) has investigated the merger between Arctic Adventures hf. and Geirland ehf. The merger was notified with a short form notification on basis of Article 17 a of the Icelandic Competition Act No 44/2005. Arctic Adventures hf. operates as a holding company for tourism. Geirland ehf. has operated a 40-room hotel in Geirland in Skaftárhreppur. The merger is a horizontal merger that effects both the market for hotel operations and the market for restaurant operations, in Southern Iceland.

  The ICA has concluded, following an investigation, that the merger will not lead to a harmful concentration. Consequently, the ICA holds that there is no need to intervene in this merger on the basis of Article 17 of the Icelandic Competition Act.
