  The Icelandic Competition Authority has reviewed a merger between Sjávarsýn ehf.‘s and Ellingsen ehf. Ellingsen operates a store in Reykjavik and imports products and equipment for outdoor activities. Sjávarsýn is a privatly owned investment company that has no investments on the same market as Ellingsen. The merger is a conglomerate merger and as such it will not cause concentration in any market. After its investigation it is the ICA’s assessment that the merger will neither give rise to a dominant position or strengthening a dominant position in any market. Therefore there is no reason for the ICA to intervene in this merger on the basis of Article 17c of the Icelandic Competition Act no. 44/2005.
