  The Icelandic Competition Authority (ICA) received a merger announcement regarding the merger of Pressan ehf. and DV ehf. The merger was announced to ICA both with reference to the Icelandic Competition Law and the Icelandic Media Law. The markets particularly affected by the merger are the market for web media and the market for advertising in web media. The merger was an horizontal merger where neither of the merging parties had a dominant position and therefore the merger did not give rise to a dominant position nor strenthening of a dominant position in any market. Moreover, the merger was not considered liable to cause appreciable harm to competition in other ways. Therefore, it was the conclusion of the ICA that there was no reason to intervene in this merger both on the basis of Article 17 of the Icelandic Competition Law and Article 62 b of the Icelandic Media Law.
