  The Icelandic Competition Authority (ICA) has examined the acquisition of HB Grandi hf. of all shares in Vignir G. Jonsson hf. HB Grandi hf. is one of the largest fishing companies in Iceland and is engaged in the fishing and the processing of pelagic and demersal fish. HB Grandi hf. owns the greatest share of the fishing quotas of all the fishing companies in Iceland. Vignir G. Jonsson hf. is a company specializing in the processing of fish eggs and exports all its products to foreign markets. The ICA came to the conclusion that there is no reason to interfere in this merger on the basis of Article 17 of the Competition Act.
