  • Summary

The Icelandic Competition Authority (ICA) and Vestmannaeyjabær, a municipality in the Westman Islands, made a settlement regarding the renting out of rooms in the sport center building where the municipality operates a swimming pool and sports facilities in the Westman Islands. The rooms were rented out to a privately run fitness center. In connection with this the clients of the fitness center bought access to the bathing facilities and the swimming pool operated by the municipality at a heavy discount. According to the settlement the municipality is to offer the said rooms for rent on the market and to sell the clients of the fitness center access to the swimming pool and the bathing facilities at a price which is not lower than the lowest price charged to the common guests of the swimming pool, when they buy access as individuals.
