  • Summary

The Icelandic Competition Authority (ICA) has reviewed the acquisition by Sandur on ISS á Íslandi. Sandur is a private investment company and ISS offers among other services cleaning, catering and facility management services to companies and institutions in various parts of the island. The merged entities are in unrelated businesses and as a result that the merger will not cause increased concentration in any of the markets involved. The merger classifies as a conglomerate merger.

After investigating the merger and assessing information on the markets involved, the ICA deems it so that the merger will neither give rise to a dominant position or strengthen a dominant position in this case. The merger will not lead to disruption of competition in the relevant markets to an appreciable extent. Therefore, there is no intervention in the merger on behalf of the ICA.
