Collusion within the Icelandic Musicians' Union relating to the issue of a tariff for the Organist Division of the Union

2/10/2006

The Competition Authority decided to investigate the preparation and publication of a harmonised tariff by the Icelandic Musicians' Union for the Organist Division of the Union.  The Competition Authority has concluded that the preparation and publication of a harmonised tariff by the Musicians' Union for its Organist Division constitutes price fixing. The Icelandic Musicians' Union therefore violated Article 12, cf. Article 10, of the Competition Act by its preparation and publication of the tariff. With reference to the authorisation laid down in Article 37 of the Competition Act an administrative fine has therefore been imposed on the Icelandic Musicians' Union.
